LOCK BOXES & DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Posted on 03-23-2010

Some of you are no doubt aware of this, but many may not be.  The
default hours for lock boxes is 8 am – 11 pm.  This is STANDARD time.
The lock box does not take into account daylight savings time.  Per GE
(Supra) this is just the way it is and …….  Sorry.

If you have an inspector, appraiser, tradesman, buyer w/realtor, etc.
who is trying to access the property in order to do their work or show
the home at a time convenient to a particular buyer they will not be
able to open the lock box until 9 am right now due to daylight savings
time!   Since many of these people depend on their days work beginning
at 8 am this can cause problems and delays in getting done the work that
you need and possibly a missed sale.  In addition, it means that the
lock box stays available until midnight instead of 11 pm.

You have the capability to program the hours of operation for your lock
boxes.  You may want to give consideration to reprogramming your own
lock boxes to open at 7 am which would actually be 8 am during daylight
savings time.
